Venture Capitalists Look for Federal Aid for IPO Market

The Securities and Exchange Commission are urged by Venture capitalists to give relief to startups from post-Enron corporate-governance laws, which they say are prolonging the worst initial public offering slump in decades. The SEC should review regulations, such as pre-IPO financial reporting requirements, rules that keep investment banking separate from stock research within brokerages, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the National Venture Capital Association said today at a news conference in Boston.
