NovAtel Announces Collaborative Technology Agreement with Brilliant Telecommunications

(Aug 09, 2008)-- NovAtel, a precise positioning technology manufacturer and Brilliant Telecommunications (Brilliant), a developer of next-generation synchronization and timing solutions, announced they have signed a technology partnership agreement to develop and deliver innovative timing, synchronization and positioning solutions. The companies will undertake cooperative development activities, combining their respective technologies to create new product platforms that target high precision applications. This unique combination will enable both companies to deliver a powerful set of new timing and synchronization solutions to customers worldwide.

"GPS and GNSS precise positioning technology is a key element to meet the growing demands placed on Network Time Protocol (NTP) and Precision Time Protocol (PTPv2) server technology, as the end-to-end transmission and synchronization of voice, data and video across packet-based networks becomes more sophisticated," said Jon Ladd, NovAtel's Chief Executive Officer. Brilliant has developed an innovative platform for next-generation packet-based networks to address the growing need for highly accurate synchronization across broad markets. Many industries including telecommunications, internet, defense, public safety, financial, health, legal and manufacturing need highly accurate chronological data archived to be compliant with existing and emerging regulations, such as Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, and NASD Rule 132. Brilliant's hardware-based timestamp technology has been well received in the marketplace due to its seamless integration into existing networks while addressing strict regulatory demands for accurate and legally traceable time.

Under the terms of the agreement both companies will collaborate to build products for OEM's in the telecom, industrial and scientific instrumentation market. Brilliant will have access to the complete line of products offered by NovAtel including their high-performance antennas. Additionally, NovAtel will have access to Brilliant's complete line of end-to-end, NTP and PTP/IEEE 1588 products to broaden and expand the overall solutions offered by NovAtel. As part of this joint technology agreement, NovAtel and Brilliant will combine development resources for joint product development initiatives. Products developed under this agreement will be marketed and sold by both companies in their respective markets.
