Voltage Security and Websense Join Forces to Help Secure Organizations’ Essential Information

Companies to Integrate Market-Leading Encryption and Data Loss Prevention Solutions

Washington DC, Gartner IT Security Summit– June 2, 2008 – Voltage Security, a global leader in information encryption, and Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN), a global provider of Web, email and data protection technologies, today introduced an integrated security solution that will provide customers with comprehensive protection for their essential information across Web, email and data security systems.  By enabling customers to apply data-centric protection, businesses can ensure their information is safe from theft, or accidental loss.

More and more organizations are realizing that just encrypting the perimeter device or PC does not effectively protect their essential information. The integration of Voltage SecureFile and Voltage Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) technology with Websense® Data Security Suite will solve this problem by providing customers with the ability to identify and protect their sensitive information across all systems where it may travel: Web, email, applications and endpoints. When used together, Websense Data Security Suite identifies sensitive data throughout the network, on laptops and devices, when it is in motion through email traffic, or in use in business documents and then automatically taps Voltage SecureFile to encrypt the specific data so that only the right user, at the right destination or system, with the right permissions can access that data.

“Long term, file encryption will become more interesting as it combines with DLP. We are starting to see products that encrypt files based on their content, managed by central policies… Long-term, file encryption (and DRM) will have to use content and context awareness to reduce the burden on users, comply with corporate policies, and improve the practicality of encryption,” said Rich Mogull, independent consultant and founder, Securosis.

Websense Data Security Suite can correctly and accurately decide which information should be protected by understanding the context around the data – who is accessing what data, where they are attempting to send it and through what channels. The resulting integrated solution will provide customers better understanding of their information flow and greater protection over their sensitive data. Pre-built policy settings within Websense Data Security Suite along with Voltage’s intuitive user and group-based encryption management system make implementing and administrating the integrated solution easy.

“Organizations need comprehensive coverage to protect sensitive data across all systems where data resides and traditional security vendors have yet to deliver solutions that span the full range of systems,” said Ray Kruck, vice president of business development, Voltage Security. “To solve that need, we’re pleased to work with Websense to deliver persistent data protection where policy drives encryption decisions and information access is enforced both inside and outside of the corporate network.”

Channel partners are also applauding the integrated solution. “Combining the discovery, monitoring and protection capabilities of Websense Data Security Suite with Voltage’s Identity-Based Encryption technology is something that no other data loss prevention solution provides,” said David Hobson, managing director at Global Secure Systems, a Websense channel partner. “The ability to provide our customers with industry-leading technology and the assurance that their confidential data is protected is a real differentiator for us as a security solution provider.”

“This relationship with Voltage provides our joint customers the ability to more granularly protect their essential information through encryption technology that compliments our data-centric approach to security,” said Devin Redmond, senior director of product management, Websense. “Our combined solution will provide organizations with powerful policy-based control over their sensitive data by understanding the context around that data and having the ability to protect it.”

The new integration announced today extends an existing relationship between Websense and Voltage that already enables integrated message encryption and e-mail security to the thousands of Websense Email Security, Websense Hosted Email Security, and WebsenseData Security Suite customers.  The existing integration allows customers to protect email messages based upon the user, the destination and the sensitivity of the content in the message.  By creating additional integrations across their product suites, Websense and Voltage together provide comprehensive policy-based information protection across Web, email and data security systems.

Websense (booth #5) and Voltage (Booth #19) will showcase their data security solutions at the Gartner IT Security Summit 2008, June 2-4, 2008, in Washington DC at Gaylord National.
