EtQ Incorporates Biometrics to its 21 CFR Part 11 Electronic Signature Functionality

(June 28, 2007)-- EtQ has developed the ability for 3rd party Biometric readers to authenticate 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures within the EtQ Reliance FDA Compliance Management System.

Compliance to FDA regulations, particularly 21 CFR Part 11, is of the utmost importance to Manufacturers in the Life Science industry. Over the years, compliance management systems have been developing leading edge technologies to address electronic signatures and records, from password protection, system logins, password timeouts, expirations, and more. With all of the functionality and features behind such technologies, there is an element of error that can occur - forgotten passwords, identity theft, cumbersome access lists, and more.

Biometrics are technologies that measure and analyze human physical and behavioral characteristics as authentication measures. Fingerprint scanning, retinal scanning, and similar methodologies are used as biometrics to ensure that any authentication to the system is consistent and unique, and eliminates any errors or forgotten passwords.

EtQ has developed the technology to integrate biometric systems into the EtQ Reliance FDA Compliance Management System. Using EtQ's biometric integration, users are able to authenticate using 3rd-party biometric reader instead of the default EtQ authentication dialog (user name and password). This method of authentication will ensure a secure record of authentication and electronic signature, with the user's biometric data collected as evidence of the signature.

"EtQ is continually developing ways to further enhance our compliance systems, and strives to stay on the leading edge of how electronic signatures are read and tracked", says Morgan Palmer, Chief Technology Officer at EtQ. "Biometric integration is just one of the many utilities EtQ is developing to help companies achieve compliance across the enterprise."

EtQ continues to expand its integration utilities, implementing such tools as eMDR, SAP integration, Integration Management, and eValidator - all with the singular purpose of making compliance a competitive advantage for its users.

With its world class flexible workflow, collaborative platform EtQ has developed a unique niche to support enterprises involved in various compliance management initiatives such as; cGxP (FDA), ISO 13485, ISO 9000:2000, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001, AS 9001, TL 9000, OHSAS 18001, RoHS, Sarbanes-Oxley and similar standards for compliance and regulatory management.
